Who are we? Our board consists of 5 Solon moms who do what we can to enrich the teacher and child experience here at Solon Robinson. We would welcome help from anyone interested! What do we do? We fundraise and then pay for all sorts of things. We all volunteer our time to ensure the money is spent in the most efficient way. That often involves making and putting up decorations, unloading and organizing flowers, and generally being there when our Solon teachers need us.
Events: BINGO/ice cream social, family nights (fall and spring), mentor/child nights (i.e. daddy/daughter dance), 5th grade luncheon, ice cream truck
Educational: We fund teacher allotments ($150 per teacher), a principal allotment, DARE, Red Ribbon Week, other school initiatives, music programs, incentive prizes, two assemblies a year, office allotment, pay for the movie license fee, and give two $500 scholarships to Solon students the year they graduate from CPHS.
Other Things We Fund: occasional popcorn days throughout the year, snacks for students during standardized testing, and we also like to spoil our teachers during teacher appreciation week in the spring. We also like to help out as needs in the school arise. Last year we were able to purchase all the Legos to start our Lego club!
What types of fundraising do you do? Every year we sell mums in the fall and beautiful flowers in the spring. This year we will also have a candy sale (Albanese & Fannie Mae) and Nothing Bundt Cakes sale in the fall to help us reach our goal of raising around $17,000. Also, monthly, we have a restaurant night, where local restaurants give us a percentage of their sales. We hope to do Culver’s, DQ, Chipotle, Gelsosomo’s, BW3, Cold Stone, Lincoln Carry Outs, Off Square Brewing, and Carriage Court Pizza this year.
