PTO

Who are we?  As a parent/guardian of a Solon student, you are invited to be a member of the PTO, along with members of the Solon staff. The goal of this organization is to support the teachers and enrich the lives of the students/families by supporting school events, raising funds to enhance school programs and provide opportunities for students, and to help build positive connections between the home and school communities.

Officer elections for PTO are held each Spring, and our Executive Board is comprised of Solon parents, and we are always in search of other parents/guardians to become involved to whatever degree you are able. Everyone is encouraged to become involved by serving on committees or volunteering for events.

Your 2024-2025 PTO officers are:

Amanda Vagelatos, President

Andrea Choate, Vice President

Teresa Kowalczyk, Secretary

Aimee Copenhafer, Treasurer

What do we do?  The PTO organizes and spearheads school community building and fundraising events in order to support opportunities for students and families not allocated for within the school budget.

What types of events/initiatives does the PTO support?  Currently, the PTO underwrites and/or plans for events such as Mentor/Student nights, Birthday Sundaes, Kindergarten Kick-Off, Kindergarten Signing Day, Staff Appreciation Week, among other initiatives. New ideas are always welcome and appreciated!

Educational Support:  Every Solon teacher may access up to $150 in PTO reimbursement for classroom supplies not provided for within the budget, and administration has access to a $500 allotment for items that will benefit the school. Additionally, the PTO underwrites DARE program costs, a 5th grade celebration luncheon, as well as funding two $500 scholarships/year for former Stingers toward their first year of college.

How do I get involved? Attend a PTO meeting, held in the media center the second Wednesday of each month at 4pm.
